Nestled among bluffs, cliffs, islands, and the beautiful beaches
of the Pacific Ocean in the Costa Alegre region of Jalisco, this quaint and authentic Mexican fishing village is truly a taste of sunshine, warm local culture, and undeveloped original Mexico that most travelers to the area of Puerto Vallarta don’t get a chance to experience. Located just two and a half hours south of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport via very well-maintained and smooth highways, Punta Perula is just a day or weekend trip away, and a gem worth experiencing.

Down Town Punta Pérula
You may hear a local brass band playing along the side of the street or in the town square amphitheater, ride a carnival ride, eat a fresh churro or homemade popsicle, or see a cowboy riding his horse right up to a mariscos restaurant (many good ones line the beach here) or along the dirt streets, where most get around town on motorcycles, scooters, or ATVs.
The climate is sunny, the dry season waves are calm and even, and the waters off charming desert paradise Isla Cocina are a vibrant turquoise green, gaining this town the nickname “Nuevo Cancun”. The islands just off the coast resemble smaller versions of California’s famed Catalina Island, and Isla Cocina is accessible by a short water taxi to its beautiful beaches.
